How to apply

Applications open twice a year. Choose your application window according to the planned beginning of your studies:

  • Spring semester 2025 applications open from 1 July 2024 until 31 October 2024.
  • Autumn semester 2025 applications open from 1 November 2024 until 15 May 2025.

To apply, fill out the application form found on the Masaryk University website. Include the following documents:

  • Academic records from your previous studies: official transcripts, a copy of bachelor's diploma;
  • A certificate confirming your English proficiency (see below);
  • ID or passport copy.

The admission process involve an online exam - online SCIO test for academic competency (the GAP test – General Academic Prerequisites) offered by Scio, and it must be paid in addition to the already paid application fee (800 CZK). The registration fee for the online exam is 27 €. You can choose one of the terms of the online exam (see terms and link for registration below).

The minimum required percentile is 30.

Please note that all the required materials must be in English. A diploma or transcripts not issued in English, Czech or Slovak should be accompanied by an official English language translation, stamped and signed by an authorized translator or university office.


English Proficiency Requirements

Exemption: applicants meeting the condition below are exempt from any further English proficiency requirements.

  • Citizens from Australia, Canada, Ireland, Malta, the New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States of America

Recognized English Certificates

Tests must be within the last two years at time of submission to be considered valid.

  • B2 Cambridge English Certificate with a total score between 160 and 179
  • Cambridge English Certificate: B2 First (FCE)
  • Cambridge English Certificate: B2 First for Schools
  • B2 IELTS Academic score 5,5–6,5
  • B2 IELTS General Training score 5,5–6,5
  • TOEIC® Listening and Reading Test: Listening: 400 (B2); Reading: 385 (B2)
  • TOEIC® Speaking and Writing Test: Speaking: 160 (B2); Writing: 150 (B2)
  • TOEFL iBT®: 72 (B2): Reading: 18 (B2); Listening: 17 (B2); Speaking: 20 (B2); Writing: 17 (B2)
  • TOEFL® ITP Level 1: 543 (B2): TOEFL® ITP Section Scores: Listening Comprehension: 54 (B2); Structure and Written Expression: 53 (B2); Reading Comprehension: 56 (B2)
  • TOEFL Junior® Standard: Listening Comprehension: 290–300 (B2); Language Form and Meaning: 280–300 (B2); Reading Comprehension: 280–300 (B2)
  • ELSA – English Language Skills Assessment B2
  • JETSET ESOL International Qualifications B2
  • LanguageCert International ESOL (Listening, Reading, Writing) – Communicator B2 LanguageCert International ESOL Spoken Exam – Communicator B2 (both certificates are necessary)
  • IESOL – Communicator B2 LanguageCert ISESOL – Communicator B2
  • Pearson Tests of English General (Level 3)
  • telc English B2
  • iTEP Test B2
  • Duolingo English Test results with the minimum score 105 points. The Duolingo certificate has to contain the unique URL/link as we verify its authenticity
